I was walking around downtown and I saw this bird hiding in the nook of a doorway. It looked like it had been hiding out there for some time cause there was poo everywhere. I didn't really want to leave it, so I ran home and emptied a giant container, grabbed some gloves, and bread and Smarties for bait (Smarties ended up being for me).
I called the Animal Hospital, and they didn't really seem like they wanted to help me. They said that some baby birds can't fly yet. But it was HUGE. I didn't think it was a baby bird. I told the lady that there was blood and whatever under the feathers. She told me to call SPCA because they deal with this kinda stuff.
I called SPCA, and they were closed (I bet the lady knew it was going to be closed too !). Cops rolled by and told me to call SPCA too and drove off.
No one wanted to help me. I'm not an animal nut or anything, and I know it's just a bird, but I just didn't want the damn thing to walk onto the street and get run over by a car. It gets busy downtown Vancouver. I felt really crappy out there trying to catch this damn bird ! Four groups of people told me to forget about the thing. No one wanted to help.
Blah. Kinda made my day crappy.
